| Johnny Hyde was a well known agent in Hollywood loved and respected by all in his field. He first saw Marilyn Monroe in the film Love Happy, and shortly afterwards requested to meet her. It was through him that Marilyn was introduced to the major Hollywood studios. Under his guidance Marilyn secured parts in two films Asphalt Jungle and All About Eve. Johnny was captivated by Marilyn and convinced her that she would become a big star. |
| At 53, Johnny was thirty years older than Marilyn, but despite the age difference and the fact that he was married with 4 sons, they embarked on an affair. When Johnnys long suffering wife finally filed for divorce, he asked Marilyn to marry him. She refused stating that although she loved him, she was not in love with him. |
| Johnny had, for many years suffered with a serious heart problem and, knowing his time was limited, devoted himself to securing Marilyns future. He negotiated a contract with 20th Century for Marilyn, with a starting salary of $750 per week, thus ensuring that she would be financially secure. |

| When Johnny Hyde died in 1950, Marilyn once again, found herself alone facing the wrath of Hollywood. Many blamed her for Johnnys death. Shunned by 20th Century, Marilyn continued to accept bit parts in movies, which would, in time, achieve her great creditation. |
